Google Ads... and "Appropriate Content"

Ok... I have one big complaint with Google Ads... and it's that you can't say "Don't show stuff that my son can't look at". If you know of a way to do this, other than a site by site filter, let me know. I would write all the details about this here, but that may also trigger these moderately inappropriate ads to show up. :)

I'm actively adding filters against the specific ads as they come up. I'm not sure what these have to do with "64-bit support"... but maybe I'm just not hip to the new generation's use of the vernacular! :)

I may need to remove the Google Ads and go with a clean site. Especially since none of you click on them anyway. ;)

Thanks for the notes from users letting me know about these "special" ads!
Jason

Jason Delmore's Gravatar I seriously love that the "Hillary versus Obama" Ad, and the "Pick McCain's VP" Ad came up when I used the title "Appropriate Content"... what kind of world is this?!? :)

Adrian J. Moreno's Gravatar When I was using AdSense, I found a few user sites that had lists of blocked URLs that were available for download. You might search around a bit and see if you can find current versions that you can import.

Raymond Camden's Gravatar I've had this happen to me once. In theory, 'bad stuff' like that shouldn't show up normally. It may have been a one time glitch like it was for me?

me's Gravatar I think the WebDev advert indicates the adverts are probably delivered deliberately by someone in Google with a sense of humour

ana gomez's Gravatar Why dont you just remove google ads and change them to comissionjunction ads. So you can choose what ads you want to your blog and you will also make more money.

Jason Delmore's Gravatar Well, to be honest, I was trying to be a good CF community citizen. Google has a referral bonus so that if you hit $100 in the first 6 months they give $100 or $200 (I forget what it was) to the person that referred you. Which would have been Ray Camden. But the site never made it to $100 since nobody clicks on ads. :) It's close enough now that I don't really want to take them down... but I may just go with a completely clean site (no ads whatsoever). I'm not making money on them... and don't really care either way, I was just trying to be helpful to the community.

I'll update the ads to be just free community ads when I get some time.
